Cheetos Flamin’ Hot Asteroids Are Back, But Don’t Thank Us…

When Cheetos took a beloved product – Flamin’ Hot Asteroids – off the shelves in 2000, fans immediately began demanding their return via social media. There was even a petition on Change.org with over 90,000 signatures.  

When Cheetos decided to bring Flamin’ Hot Asteroids back, we wanted to give the credit to those who inspired it: the fans.

Using social listening data, we established the locations that had generated the most social chatter while Flamin’ Hot Asteroids were gone. We then created an integrated campaign tailored to each market featuring actual fan-generated content. This included out-of-home, local radio, and targeted social – all prompting people to thank the real heroes behind the return of Flamin’ Hot Asteroids.
